Day 7 of the 2016 WSOP Main Event was completed mere hours ago. The event attracted a total of 6,737 players who created the impressive prize pool of $63,327,800. After seven days of play, the names of the final nine players were clear.
The Final Table event is set to start on October 30. Meet the players who formed the 2016 November Nine.
Cliff Josephy finished the Main Table event as a chip leader and secured a place at the Final Table. He has two WSOP bracelets as well as 17 WSOP cashes in his poker career.
Qui Nguyen is not as experienced in high stakes tourneys as most of his Final Table competitors. He has only one WSOP cash in his poker career amounting to $9,029. However, he managed to secure a seat at the Final Table where he will pocket at least $1,000,000.
This year’s event is the third participation of Gordon Vayo at a WSOP final table. He has as many as 26 WSOP cashes and his earnings amount to a bit more than $600,000. The runner-up position in a $3,000 No-Limit Hold’em Six-Max in 2014 has been his biggest accomplishment so far.
The Belgian Kenny Hallaert also made it to the Final Table. He occupied the fifth place in 2015 Colossus, which was his best performance in a WSOP event.
Michael Ruane cannot take pride in having a solid poker career, but the Main Event provided him with the chance to scoop at least $1,000,000 in November and add the participation in a major poker event to his biography.
Vojtech Ruzicka is the sixth player who strives to get the coveted WSOP bracelet. He is also the first Czech for the last five years to take part in a Final Table event. He registered his best WSOP finish last year when he got the amount of $42,228 for his efforts.
The seventh seat on the final table will be occupied by Griffin Benger. He is no stranger to WSOP events and he has 13 WSOP cashes. Benger has been once declared the best online poker player on a global scale.
This is the first time when Jerry Wong made it to the final table. He has a total of 19 previous cashes as well as $127,343 in WSOP earnings.
Fernando Pons has never participated in WSOP events before, but nevertheless, he is the last of the November Niners. Pons is predominantly an online poker player who has registered two cashes from tournaments.
The 3-and-a-half-month gap between the Main Event and the Final Table gives the nine players the chance to prepare for the competition and get back to Vegas at the end of October to take part in the battle for the most prestigious poker trophy.
